O2 Germany started taking pre-orders for the newly-launched Nokia 6 and Nokia 5 Android smartphones on Friday. HOMD global unveiled the two devices, along with the less-expensive Nokia 3 during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2017 in February.
If paid upfront, the Nokia 6 and Nokia 5 will cost 253 euros (Rs. 18,263) and 217 euros (Rs. 15,664), respectively. There is another option to buy the handsets which will require customers to opt for a 24-month contract with monthly instalments.
The tariff plans for the Nokia 6 start at 20.49 euors (Rs. 1,479) and reach up to 30.49 euros (Rs. 2,201). When it comes to the Nokia 5, the tariff plans start at 18.99 euros (Rs. 1,370.79) per month for O2 Blue Basic and 28.99 euros (Rs. 2,092.63) per month for the O2 Free L.
Currently, O2 is also offering free JBL Go portable speaker for customers who pre-order either of the handsets. However, the offer is valid only until supplies last.
In terms of specifications, the Nokia 6 has the best offerings among all three handsets. The phone features a 5.5-inch full HD IPS LCD screen (1920x1080p) with Sculpted Corning Gorilla Glass protection. It is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 octa-core CPU, coupled with 3GB of RAM. The handset also comes with 32GB of internal storage, which is expandable up to 128GB with a microSD card.
When it comes to cameras, the Nokia 6 comes with a 16MP rear camera and 8MP front camera with f/2.0 aperture. The phone runs on Android 7.1.1 Nougat with Google Assistant and carries a 3,000mAh battery.
The Nokia 5, on the other hand, comes with a 5.2-inch HD display (1280x720p) protected with Gorilla Glass. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor with 2GB of RAM. It also offers 16GB of internal storage, which is expandable up to 128GB using a microSD card.
The phone features a 13MP rear snapper and 8MP front-facing camera. It runs on Android 7.0 Nougat, and is backed by a 3,000 mAh battery.
Earlier this week, HMD Global launched all thee Android-powered Nokia phones in India. The Nokia 6, pre-registration for which will kick off on July 14, costs Rs. 14,999 and is exclusive to Amazon India.
The Nokia 5, on the other hand, is priced at Rs. 12,899. The pre-order service for the phone is scheduled to go live on July 7 onwards, but exclusively at brick-and-mortar stores only.
Meanwhile, the Nokia 3 is already available in India from Friday with a price tag of Rs. 9,499.
