HMD Global Oy is slated to launch a new Nokia phone in New Delhi next week. However, there is no official word on the model—Nokia X6 aka Nokia 6.1 Plus or the Nokia X5 aka Nokia 5.1 Plus— which will debut in India. Now, we believe it might the former as the company has recently slashed the price of its predecessor in India.
According to the official Nokia India website, the Nokia 6.1 models—3GB RAM and 4GB RAM--, which used to cost Rs 16,999 and Rs 18,999 have been reduced to Rs 15,499 and Rs 17,499, respectively. This is probably the stock clearance exercise to create shelf space for the new Nokia 6.1 Plus.
Should you buy the Nokia 6.1?
Going by the specifications and the current price-tag, it is a good phone for mobile photography enthusiasts. Nokia 6.1 sports 5.5-inch full HD screen with 2.5D curved glass cover and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection on top. On the back, it flaunts a metallic shell with a matte finish, a dual-camera module and a fingerprint sensor below it.
Under-the-hood, the Nokia 6.1 houses a Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 processor, pure Android 8.0 Oreo and a 3,000mAh battery with fast charging capability.
The highlight of the Nokia 6.1 is its camera hardware. It boasts world-renowned ZEISS-branded 16MP rear camera lens with F2.0 aperture, dual-tone LED flash.
On the front, it comes with an equally impressive 8 MP front-facing camera. The company has also promised to release a software update with camera improvements including the Nokia's Dual Sight/Bothie feature, which is available in flagship Nokia 8 series.
For the uninitiated, the Bothie feature allows users to record videos and takes images simultaneously from the front and the back via Dual-Sight mode.
If you want to the buy its successor, here's what you can expect in it.
The Nokia X6 aka Nokia 6.1 Plus sports a 5.8-inch full HD+ screen with a notch on the top, that houses a 16 MP front camera with facial recognition feature. On the back, it comes with metallic shell, vertically aligned dual-camera and fingerprint sensor below it.

The Nokia X6 also houses feature-rich Artificial Intelligence (AI)-powered dual 16 MP + 5 MP camera with dual-tone LED flash and is capable of recognizing the type of the scene. It is capable of detecting 13 different possible scenarios such as pets, flowers, human face, landscape, snowy conditions, night, food and more.
For instance, if you are pointing the camera to a garden, the camera will intuitively know you are taking a picture of a flower and adjusts the focus and other settings to get the best possible image. If you are taking a photo of an outdoor location, it will automatically set the camera mode to landscape and cover a wider area in the single frame.
The front-camera also boasts AI-selfie with background blur feature and funny stickers for face to share it on social media channels.
