HMD Global has finally started rolling out the Android Oreo update to its Nokia 5 after weeks of beta testing on the device.
HMD Global's Chief Product Officer Juho Sarvikas has announced on Twitter that the Nokia 5 and Nokia 6 have officially joined the Android Oreo family. He went on to say that the roll-out would be phased as usual to secure quality delivery, which means it may take some days to reach your device.
Owners of the Nokia 5 and Nokia 6 can manually check the Android Oreo update by going to Settings >> About Phone >> System Updates >>Check for the new firmware in case they don't get new OS update notification.
With the Nokia 5 and Nokia 6 joining the group of Nokia 8 and Nokia 7, the only Nokia devices that are yet to receive Android Oreo update are the Nokia 2 and Nokia 3. In fact, the Nokia 8 has already received Android 8.1 Oreo beta, indicating the stable version could be seeded soon.
The next Nokia handsets to taste Android Oreo are the Nokia 2 and Nokia 3.
Juho Sarvikas has confirmed in a tweet that the Nokia 3 would soon get Android Oreo beta build, giving a hint that it's just a matter of time before the handset receives the final version. He also went on to say that the Nokia 2 would get Android 8.1 Oreo version directly instead of the Android 8.0 Oreo.
