No new episode of 'The Vampire Diaries' on March 11; when will Season 7 Episode 16 air?

CW will not be airing a new episode of "The Vampire Diaries" this Friday, instead the time slot will be filled by "Just For Laughs."

Fans of the vampire drama will have to wait till April 1 to find out what happens to Damon and Stefan Salvatore (Ian Somerhalder and Paul Wesley) now that the show has jumped three years into the future. Through a series of flashbacks, the show will also explore how the lives of all the characters have changed since Damon decided to lock himself in the coffin.

"You'll find there are certain mysteries left unexplored: how did Stefan and Valerie (Elizabeth Blackmore) get together? When did Bonnie (Kat Graham) and Enzo (Michael Malarkey) fall in love? Why is Matt Donovan (Zach Roerig) so pissed?" executive producer Julie Plec told Entertainment Weekly. "Starting next episode, you'll get the answers in the form of what we're calling 'Bridge Backs,' aka a series of scenes that flash back to what happened over the three years that have passed since Damon went into the coffin."

Caroline is going to be absent for the next few episode due to actress Candice Accola's maternity leave. But she will return for the season finale on May 13.

Season 7 Episode 16 is titled "Days of Future Past" and a promo video show Rayna torturing Stefan and convincing him to leave Stefan behind. The previous episode ended with Rayna telling Stefan that she was willing to transfer the mark to Damon, a vampire who really deserved to be stuck inside the phoenix stone. However, Stefan refuses her offer and the episode ended on a cliffhanger with Damon revealing that it was actually his idea.

The trailer also shows Enzo being blamed for letting Rayna out.

"The Vampire Diaries" Season 7 returns to the CW on April 1 at 8 p.m. EDT. The synopsis for the episode, as per Wikia, reads:

In an attempt to make things right with his brother, Damon offers to have Stefan's scar magically transferred to him, only to discover that doing so may come with some unexpected consequences. With time running out and Rayna closing in on Stefan, Valerie desperately attempts to reason with Damon before it's too late. Elsewhere, after being framed for breaking Rayna out of The Armory, Enzo attempts to clear his name, but not before a violent run-in with Nora forces him to make an upsetting discovery. Matt also appears.
