The shooting of Malayalam actor Nivin Pauly's upcoming Tamil movie has started in the coastal village Manapad in Tuticorin a week ago. The movie also has cinematographer Natraj Subramaniam in a main role along with Nivin, who is yet to join the sets.
"Natraj also plays as protagonist equally important to Nivin's character just like two sides of the same coin," the film's director Gautham Ramachandran told International Business Times, India. Natraj, who has made a mark in Bollywood and South Indian movies, has cranked the camera for the popular movies "Puli," "A..Aa," "Raanjhanna," "Love Aaj Kal," "Jab We Met" and "Parineeta," among many others.
When asked if the upcoming movie will be titled "Santa Maria," the filmmaker revealed it as one of the options they have found so far and added that it will be finalised soon. The upcoming Nivin-starrer, based on the life of people in the coastal regions, is the Tamil remake of Rakshit Shetty's well acclaimed Kannada crime thriller "Ulidavaru Kandante."
The movie has Shraddha Srinath opposite Nivin in the role of a crime reporter. In an earlier interview with IBTimes India, the actress had said that even though a subtle love track would be playing alongside in the movie, it will not be the focus of the film.
Meanwhile, Nivin, who is basking in the success of the blockbuster family entertainer "Jacobinte Swargarajya," has completed the first leg of the shooting of Siddhartha Siva's upcoming untitled movie in Thrissur. The actor will be seen in the role of a youth political leader, Krishnakumar, in the family entertainer. The second schedule of the movie will go on the floors in Kottayam and Peerumedu.
