Nivedita Gowda has deleted the video in which she could be seen dancing on the latest fad Kiki Challenge. The former Bigg Boss Kannada contestant was slammed by her followers for risking her and other lives by doing the dangerous stunt in a moving car.
The actress said that she performed the stunt without realising that there was a ban on accepting the challenge. "I just saw the post on Instagram and tried it out. The entire issue is blown out of the proportion by the media. As soon as I got on the know about the ban on Kiki Challenge, I have taken out the video from my Instagram account, so that it will stop people from accepting the Kiki Challenge. I am not the one who advises people to take up the challenge and kill themselves," the Times of India quoted Nivedita as saying.
It has to be noted that a case was filed against Nivedita with the Halasuru Gate police stating that she was also encouraging other people to take up the challenge.
What is Kiki Challenge?
The person, who takes up the challenge, should get out of a slow-moving car and dance for a minute before re-entering their vehicle. Canadian rapper Drake's latest song 'In My Feelings' (Scorpion album) has become the latest trend that has gone viral on social media with several thousand of people doing it and posting the videos on their social media accounts.
What has worried the people is that there has been a numerous number of incidents in which people have suffered injuries while doing the dangerous dance.
In India, the trend picked up in the last couple of days after celebrities like Adah Sharma and Regina Cassandra accepted the Kiki Challenge. However, the former did not perform in a moving car.
Meanwhile, G Parameshwara, the Home Minister of Karnataka, has tweeted about the issue as he wrote, "We have nothing against social media fads as long as they don't become a public nuisance and put the lives of people at risk. Don't take up challenges on roads, which can harm you as well as others. Parents should sensitise their children about these dangers & keep a close watch."
