Nissan Motor India Private Limited is planning to update the Terrano SUV line-up through its Automated Manual Transmission-equipped variant. Emerging reports say that the Terrano AMT is slated for launch during this festive season.
Renault India had launched the AMT-equipped version of Duster SUV in March this year, along with the SUV's facelift. Terrano, being the badge engineering product of Renault-Nissan alliance, will get the same AMT gearbox as the Duster. Though the Duster got cosmetic upgrades this year, Terrano's design will remain the same, with the introduction of the AMT gearbox.
The cabin of the Terrano is expected to get more features to position it as a more premium offering than the Duster. The Terrano AMT will also carry a more premium price tag than the Duster. The SUV will continue to be powered by 1.6-litre petrol engine as well as 1.5-litre diesel engines. The petrol unit develops 102bhp and 145Nm of torque. The diesel mill comes in two states of tune — 84bhp/200Nm and 108bhp/248Nm.
As part of the recent rejig to Nissan vehicles, the company had reduced the number of Terrano variants. Nissan pulled the plug on the 85hp diesel XL, 110hp diesel XL and 110hp diesel XV trims. The Terrano is now offered in four variants — the petrol (XL), XE diesel 85hp, XL Plus diesel 85hp and 110hp XV Premium. Prices of the SUV currently range from Rs. 10 lakh to Rs. 13.15 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi.
