Nissan Motor Company on Wednesday launched its new Micra variant, XE diesel, in India with a price point of ₹5.57 lakh.
The new vehicle is the 12th Micra line-up from Nissan in India and sales have begun on 4 September. Under the hood, the new Micra XE packs the same 1.5 liter K9K diesel engine which can deliver 64 PS power and 160 Nm torque. The company claims the vehicle gives a fuel efficiency of 23.08 kilometre per liter (certified by ARAI).
"The launch of new Micra range in July received an overwhelming response from our customers. The new Micra diesel variant is a good value proposition and a desirable option for the Indian customers. We are keen to replicate the success of the existing variants with this diesel-powered XE variant of the new Micra," said Kenichiro Yomura, president, Nissan India operations and MD & CEO, Nissan Motor India as quoted by PTI.
With the launch of Micra XE, Nissan seeks to increase its sales volume in the country. Micra XE will be avialble in six colour options - olive green (new), turquoise blue (new), blade silver, storm white, onyx black and brick red.On the safety front, it houses driver seat belt warning, door ajar warning, low fuel indicator and headlight on warning indicator apart from the features like Power steering, Tachometer, Drive Computer and Manual A/C.
"Adding the XE variant in diesel (to the new Micra) will further augment the volumes for this model due to its aggressive entry level price point. This is not just another variant but is the right product at the right time. To ensure good sales and after sales service across the nation, we are increasing our dealer networks at a rapid pace," said Nitish Tipnis, director - sales & marketing, Hover Automotive India (Nissan's national sales company).
