The Japanese carmaker Nissan has been hard at work putting the finishing touches to the launch schedule of its new model in India. And the company has kick-started a teaser campaign for the upcoming new Micra giving a hint that its launch could come early.
The word around the web indicates an early June launch, with the probable launch date being June 2. But is it the all-new Micra unveiled at the Paris Motor show last year?
From the teaser images of the new Micra, it does not look so. The upcoming Micra could feature updates on the current model in the market with the company keen to hold onto its market share before the arrival of the new hatchback, later this year or early 2018. The teaser images also seem to validate the thinking since the latest teaser of the Micra has a caption, "IT CAN SENSE RAIN" indicating the addition of rain sensing wipers.
The new Nissan Micra is also expected to see several other features like new infotainment system and reverse parking camera. From what we understand, the hatchback is unlikely to get any mechanical or styling changes except the minor tweaks inside the cabin. The Nissan Micra is currently powered by 1.2-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engines. While the petrol mill is tuned to churn out 75bhp of power, the diesel one generates 62bhp of power.
With the updated features, the prices of the Micra hatchback are also likely to go up. Currently, the Micra is sold at a price tag starting at Rs. 5.99 lakh.
