Nissan Motor India Pvt Ltd has started accepting bookings for its upcoming SUV Kicks from Friday (December 14). Nissan has scheduled the launch of the Hyundai Creta, Renault Captur and Maruti Suzuki S-cross rivalling SUV in January 2019.
Nissan has kept the booking amount for the Kicks at Rs 25,000 and prospective buyers can place the order at the company dealership or via online. Nissan India has started the production of Kicks at its Chennai plant on December 6 (Thursday) and the SUV will be soon available for test drives at dealerships.
Nissan sells the Kicks SUV in many global markets while the India-spec model is slightly different from the global-spec. The global-spec Kicks is based on the V-Platform while the India-spec Kicks will underpin low-cost M0 platform that currently being used for Renault Duster and Captur SUVs.
The India-spec Kicks measures 4,384 mm in length, 1,813 mm in width, and 1,656 mm in height making it bigger than the international-spec model, thanks to the new platform adoption.
In addition, the India-spec Kicks comes with a slightly tweaked front bumper with a pair of faux air inlets above the fog lights and an aluminium skid plate. In line with international-spec Kicks, the Indian model also gets V-motion front grille, large sweptback headlamps and boomerang-shaped LED daytime running lamps and others.
Inside the cabin, the Kicks features a dual-tone black and brown interior with leather on the dashboard and door panels. The side AC vents and steering wheel get silver touches. Between the two rectangular ac vents at the centre of dash houses 8.0-inch touch floating infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility. The touchscreen also doubles as a display for the 360-degree surround-view camera. The SUV boasts of a leather-wrapped steering wheel with audio controls. The instrument cluster gets analogue dials for the tachometer and fuel gauge, with a digital speedometer and a MID unit at the centre.
Nissan Kicks shares 106bhp, 1.6-litre petrol, and 110bhp, 1.5-litre diesel engines with the Terrano. The petrol version will come mated to a 5-speed manual as standard while the latter will get a 6-speed manual.
Nissan India expected to price the Kicks between Rs 10 to Rs 15 lakh (ex-showroom).
