Nirbhaya gangrape case convict Vinay Sharma on Thursday reportedly filed an application in a Delhi court demanding security in prison after he was allegedly attacked by fellow inmates of Tihar Central Jail.
Sharma, who has been convicted in the gangrape-and-murder case of 16 December 2012, suffered a hand fracture after he was assaulted by his fellow prison inmates, according to reports. He along with three other convicts in the case are lodged in high-security cells in the central jail.
According to reports, Sharma filed the application in Patiala House court demanding security inside the jail.
In March 2013, another convict in the case, Ram Singh, was found dead in Tihar jail just before he was scheduled to appear before the court. Though the jail authorities declared that he had committed suicide, his relatives had alleged that he was murdered.
