"The Vampire Diaries" alum Nina Dobrev is yet to land a major television or movie role after her exit from the CW vampire drama. But she has reportedly set her eyes on HBO's "True Detective" and Fox's "Empire."
Dobrev is said to have expressed a desire to be on either of these shows because she wants to one-up former lover Ian Somerhalder by landing a show much bigger that "The Vampire Diaries", a source close to Dobrev's circle dished to Celeb Dirty Laundry.
"Nina has come to terms with the fact that she isn't going to be the next Angelina Jolie. She is still determined to land a role on a show bigger than The Vampire Diaries though – just to one up Ian Somerhalder. In her eyes The Vampire Diaries is equivalent to Freshmen, and True Detective is the Senior Class," the insider told the website.
"She is salivating over an Empire role on FOX because it is the network's biggest show, and Nikki Reed just got cast on FOX's Sleepy Hollow. She would love being able to boast that her show is bigger than Nikki's."
As reported earlier, Dobrev and Reed, who were friends before Somerhalder started dating the "Twilight" alum, haven't been in the best of terms for a while now. Reed's involvement with Somerhalder is believed to have caused a friction between Somerhalder and Dobrev too, and some believe this was one of the main reasons why the 26-year-old quit "The Vampire Diaries."
Although Dobrev later said in an interview that she was still friends with Somerhalder and was happy that he got married, Somerhalder's decision to unfollow Dobrev on Twitter proved that all was not well between the duo.
A Celeb Dirty Laundry insider even claimed that Reed was insecure of Somerhalder's closeness with Dobrev and that she constantly worries about the actor cheating on her with his ex-girlfriend.
According to some online users, Reed could have influenced her husband to unfollow Dobrev on Twitter.
