Nike has opened its largest store in India on Monday, 6 July, at Brigade Road, which is one of Bengaluru's biggest shopping destination.
Measuring 7,355 sqft, the three-level store will offer a selection of apparel and footwear for competition, training and lifestyle across a variety of sports including running, football, cricket, basketball and tennis.
"At Nike, we truly believe in the power of sport and how it can change lives," said Nike India Managing Director Sanjay Gangopadhyay, "This new store represents a bold step towards providing consumers in India with the best products from across the globe, which will help them become better athletes."
The store will offer multiple services for athletes such as gait analysis and is a hub for the Nike+ Run Club in Bengaluru. Every weekend, consumers can register for free to take part in runs under the guidance of NRC coach KC Kothandapani and Reeth Abraham.
Athletes representing a variety of sports such as cricketers R Ashwin, Subhalakshmi and Karun Nair, footballers Sunil Chetri, Subrata Pal and Jyoti Ann Burett, shooter Heena Sidhu and boxer Sarita Devi were present at the store for the launch.
"This new Nike Store brings the best from services to innovations to help athletes reach their potential," said cricketer Ashwin.
Bollywood actor Abhishek Bachchan was also present at the launch and led a panel discussion with the atheletes about how sports plays a key role in their lives and how it helped change them as individuals and the need to build a sporting culture in India.
