The last weeks has been an eventful one for German Formula 1 racer Nico Rosberg; an extension of his contract with the Mercedes followed his marriage to long-time girlfriend Vivian Sibold.
Rosberg hopes he can justify the faith Mercedes has shown in him. And a win in the German Grand Prix at Hockenheim this weekend would be an excellent start.
"Believe me: I will do anything," said the racer in an interview with Formula 1, when asked about winning at home.
In the previous Grand Prix at Silverstone, Rosberg's record of 100 percent completion in every race disappeared as his car's gearbox gave way. To compound matters, his lead over teammate Lewis Hamilton for the championship saw a reduction from 29 points to four, as the Brit won on his home turf.
Meanwhile, the new contract offered by Mercedes will no doubt boost Rosberg's confidence. According to the 29-year-old, the deal makes his position in the team more secure. The contract afforded him, in his words, stability.
"I can enjoy it and am happy about it. I have the trust from all the people in charge in the team and I couldn't think of a better place to be," the F1 star said.
Mercedes' offer to Rosberg points to not wanting to lose him to other teams. Furthermore, his good performances of late are one of the reasons they have offered him a new contract.
"I don't know what they expect - but for sure it is that I drive well. That's why they kept me on board," the racer put forth.
The former Williams man consented to being a part of Mercedes as he was desirous of being provided with a good vehicle.
"I expect a good car - that is why I stayed," he stressed.
Both him and Mercedes are also on the same page, with regard to the goals on the track.
"I think our aspiration is to dominate - both of us," Rosberg added, pointing out the reasons for sticking with Mercedes.
