Nicholas 'Duffy' Fudge, a cast member of the reality show Wicked Tuna, has died at the age of 28. Several news outlets and an obituary for Duffy confirmed that the young star passed away.
An obituary for the star revealed that he "passed away unexpectedly" on Thursday, July 19. It also revealed that he left behind his parents, younger brother Cody Fudge, girlfriend Ali Currier and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and many, many friends.
The National Geographic channel confirmed the news of death and mourn the loss through a tweet.
"@NatGeoChannel and @Pilgrim_Studios were saddened to learn that Wicked Tuna cast member Nicholas "Duffy" Fudge passed away this week. We join his family and friends in mourning his untimely loss," read the tweet shared by Wicked Tuna. He was seen in several seasons of Wicked Tuna and its spin-off Wicked Tuna: Outer Banks, CNN reports. He joined the cast in 2013.
The channel also revealed that he was the "first mate on Captain Tyler McLaughlin's fishing vessel, Pinwheel." Honouring his memory, The National Geographic held a moment of silence incorporated in the recent episode of the reality TV series.
Duffy's obituary highlighted the late reality star's free spirit and lively personality.
Nick also treasured the environment and he took seriously his responsibility to protect it. He was known for his smile, his fearlessness, his adventurous spirit, his mischievous sense of humor, and giving big hugs.
The funeral for Nicholas Fudge will be held on July 25 at the Hampton. It will be organised in complete "Duffy" style.
