With Google set to release its upcoming flagship smartphone dubbed as Nexus 6 this winter, gadget lovers will be curious to know how it will stand against other smartphones available in the market, including Sony Xperia Z2 that was launched a few months ago.
The Nexus 6 is expected to be unveiled this October though the search giant has not made official announcement. The most credible information on the release date of the device till date is Google VP Sundar Pichai's revelation at the Mobile World Congress 2014 (MWC 2014) that the flagship smartphone would be announced in October.
The Sony Xperia Z2 and Nexus 6 belong to different range with huge price difference but Google's upcoming new device has the potential to give smartphones in the market a run for their money. The price of Nexus 6 is expected to be mid-range if the cost of Nexus 5, which stands at $349 for 16GB and $399 for 32GB, is any indication. It is comparatively low comparing to Xperia Z2's price tag of $699.99.
Google's device may sport a 5.2-inch full HD with 1080x1920 pixels resolution when it is released this fall. It will be powered by Quad-core MT6732 64-bit chip or the octa-core MT6752 SoC, according to G4Games, and may run on Android L OS which is yet to be released. The device may house either a 20MP camera with HDR mode or a 13MP main camera and a 5MP front snapper, come packed with 32 GB internal memory, 3GB RAM and 3100 mAh Li-Polymer battery.
On the other hand, Sony Xperia Z2 sports a 5.2-inch full HD (1920x1080p) IPS LCD screen with 424 ppi (pixels per inch). It is powered by 2.3GHz Qualcomm 801 series quad-core processor (chipset: MSM8974AB), run on Android v4.4.2 KitKat OS and come packed with 16GB internal memory, 3GB RAM and microSD slot up to 128GB. It has 20.7MP rear camera and 2.2-megapixel front-facing shooter, and powered by Li-Ion 3200 mAh battery.

Nexus is also expected to come with several new features, including a curved LCD display and a lightweight, polycarbonate body. Reports suggested that it may also boast of Wi-Fi, 4G LTE, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC and micro-USB connectivity slot.
On the other hand, Sony Xperia Z2 has add-ons like water-proof and dust-resistant (IP55/58 certifications), Wi-Fi, Bluetooth v4.0, MHL, A-GPS, USB v2.0, microSD card slot , 3D and motion gaming, 3D surround sound.
