Gadget lovers will soon grab the Nexus 6, as Google Inc. is reportedly releasing it on 12 November, almost a month after unveiling it along with the Nexus 9 tablet and Android 5.0 Lollipop.
The Nexus 6 was unveiled on 15 October but Google was tight-lipped on its release date. It was then opened for pre-orders on 29 October, giving a clear hint that it would arrive soon.
However, a Reddit user had earlier claimed that the Nexus 6 would be released on 12 November.
"I decided to call up all of the T-Mobile stores in my area to see if they had any info. The first 3 declined having any information. The next one I called said it would be released on the 12th. I asked if they would have it in the store and he said that if not they would ship it," wrote a user on Reddit.
Several unconfirmed reports have claimed that Nexus 6 will arrive on Wednesday. Unlike in the past where the Nexus devices were promoted only on Google Play store, Google will make the device available on all five major US carriers -- Verizon Wireless, AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile and US Cellular.
The device has several feature upgrades over its predecessor, the Nexus 5. It sports a 5.96-inch QHD with 2560x1440 pixels (493 ppi pixels per inch), AMOLED capacitive touchscreen protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. It is powered by 805 series Snapdragon CPU, runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop and comes packed with 32/64GB storage capacity and 3GB RAM.
The device has a 13MP main camera with Dual-LED flash, f2.0 aperture, 4K video recording, and 2MP front camera with HD video conferencing feature, and houses a 3220 mAh battery with talk time up to 24 hours, standby time close to 250 hours (with ambient display on) and 330 hours (with ambient display off).
The Nexus 6 is said to be in demand despite its big screen size. Reports were doing the rounds that both the 32 GB and 64 GB versions of the device (Midnight Blue and Cloud White) were sold out a few minutes after it was opened for pre-order last month. The device is not available for pre-order on Google Play Store at the time of filing this story.
