Google Inc. hasn't revealed the release date of its upcoming flagship smartphone dubbed as the Nexus 6 aka Nexus X despite speculations around it but a new report has hinted a late launch of the new smartphone.
The Nexus 6 aka Nexus X will be unveiled on 31 October, according to a report by Inferse website. However, Google is yet to announce the release date of its upcoming next-generation smartphone. The most reliable information on the device came from Vice president of Google, Sundar Pichai, who said at the Mobile World Congress 2014 (MWC 2014) that the device would be announced in October.
The search giant has the tradition of launching its devices on the day of unveiling. The first smartphone from Nexus line was released in January, the Nexus 3 and 4 in November, and the Nexus 5 in October. All these devices were launched on the day of unveiling but reports claimed that the upcoming Nexus 6 aka Nexus X could be announced in October but hit the stores in November.
Android Authority has reported that Android L and new Nexus hardware will be shown off in mid-October but the final version of the yet-to-be-released software won't officially be available until 1 November, hinting a possible late launch of the Nexus 6 aka Nexus X.
The device mentioned in the report could be referred to the HTC Nexus 9 tablet, which is also expected to run on Android L, but reports that have appeared so far have claimed that the Nexus 6 aka Nexus X will come with the new software.
If the report by Android Authority is anything to go by, the Nexus 6 aka Nexus X could hit the stores after it is unveiled if it comes with the software. However, the device could be still released on the day of unveiling if the Android L comes out of the box.
The Android L will be made available to the Nexus 4, Nexus 5, Nexus 7, and Nexus 10 when it is released, according to reports.
Meanwhile, it was earlier reported that Google might introduce Android L in the Nexus 6 aka Nexus X. The search giant's new device is expected to sport a 5.2-inch screen with 1440x2560p resolution, powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 chipset with CPU speed close to 2.5GHz, come packed with 3GB RAM and 13MP rear camera and 2.1MP front snapper, according to Antutu benchmark listing. G4Games website reported that the device might come with a Quad-core MT6732 64-bit chip that clocked at 1.5GHz, or the octa-core MT6752 SoC running at a frequency of 2.0GHz.
The device will run on Android L, house a 3100 mAh Li-Polymer battery and come with several interesting features, including a curved LCD display and a lightweight, polycarbonate body. It may also boast of Wi-Fi, 4G LTE, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC and micro-USB connectivity slot.
