Korean carmaker Hyundai launched the Creta SUV in July 2015 and it has become one of the most successful launches of the company in India so far. The Creta is one of the best selling SUV in India competing with Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza. Now, emerging reports indicate that Hyundai has already started working on the next generation of the SUV.
A report in Autocar India claims the next generation of the Creta will come with an option of seven seats in addition to the five-seater layout of the current version. This means that the second generation will grow in terms of length to accommodate the third row of seats. The arrival of next-gen Creta is expected in 2021.
At present, Honda BR-V and Mahindra XUV500 offers a seven-seat option at the same price point of the Creta. Hence, the carmaker believes that there are two distinct categories of buyers for each five and seven variants and Hyundai wants to offer an option to both.
In the meantime, Hyundai will launch the facelift version of the Creta to keep the product fresh. The facelift of the Creta is expected to debut this month at Sao Paulo International Motor Show. The new version will get cosmetic upgrades. Teaser images indicate the radiator grille at the front will look bigger and it will get a chrome outlining. Vertically positioned fog lamps of the current version will be replaced with a slim horizontally designed unit. The faux skid plate at the lower front bumper will be wider.
At the rear, arrangement inside the tail lamps will be reworked, but the design will stay untouched. A full-length chrome strip between the tail lamps can be spotted in teaser images. The reflectors at the rear bumper are also repositioned.
Hyundai Creta facelift is expected to come to India in the second quarter of 2017.
