Toyota's upcoming next generation Innova is back in the news, as an apparently live picture of the new model appeared online ahead of its possible global launch later this year.
This is not the first time auto enthusiasts in the country are getting to see the new 2016 Innova, as there has been a series of spy shots earlier, but the latest picture is one of its kind, which gives a clear picture of the styling and design of the new Innova, thanks to folks at FlyWheel who managed to get hold on the first best image yet.
From the image, what is apparent immediately is changes made to the front profile of the Innova.
A closer look at the picture reveals the hexagon-shaped front grille with twin-slat, projector headlamps with LED daytime running lights, wider and larger air dam and fog lights.
Coming to the side profile of new 2016 Innova, the glass area of the Innova seems to have gotten a fresh touch and new alloys and new OVRMs are also likely to be in the menu.
From what we hear, the new Innova is likely to be lighter than the current generation as it is built on a new platform.
So far, the engine specifications of the model in question are guarded closely. However, a previous report had suggested a much powerful 2.0 or 2.2 litre diesel mill will be featured in the new Innova.
Inside the cabin, the new Innova is likely to get sporty and have upmarket interiors. In India, the new Innova is expected to reach in 2016 and when launched, the model will rival Honda Mobilio, Chevrolet Enjoy and Nissan Evalia.
Rumours are also rife that Toyota is planning to rename its current generation Innova as 'Innova Cross' with minor tweaks in styling and design. If this is true, the 'Innova Cross' is likely to see the light of the day only in early 2017.
