Newly elected Goa Tourism Minister Matanhy Saldanha, 64, died after suffering a fatal heart attack at a private in hospital in Panaji Wednesday. He also had held the portfolios of Science and Environment.
Doctors attending on Saldanha said that they tried to revive his health condition for about two-hours before confirming his death.
Saldanha was one among the five Catholic candidates who were given the party tickets, in latest assembly polls. Being a BJP legislator representing Cortalim constituency, he took over the Tourism Ministry of the state March 9.
He had been twice elected as legislator in the state legislative assembly and had been a cabinet minister in the Manohar Parrikar-led cabinet.
