Newcomer Amrit Maghera has replaced Shraddha Kapoor in the upcoming film "Mad About Dance".
Saahil Prem, the lead actor and director of the film, had initially considered "Ek Villain" actress Kapoor and "Kisna" actress Isha Sharvani for the female lead but it's Maghera, who managed to impress the makers and grab the role, reportedly after a long line of strenous auditions. Choreographer-turned-filmmaker Farah Khan had also recommended Maghera, who is trained in international dance styles.
"The film is about international dance forms and for that, the makers needed a heroine who would be comfortable with those dance forms," a source close to the film told BollywoodLife.
"Shraddha was the first choice for the role, but during the auditions, it became obvious that she couldn't cope with the challenging dance steps and was rejected. Following this, the makers spoke to Isha Sharvani, but her dance style is quite different from what was required for the film."
The dance drama, which will showcase international dance forms, is the directorial debut of "Ragini MMS 2" lead actor Prem.
"We narrowed down on Amrit as she is not only a skilled dancer, but also a good actor. Not only this, she also fits the character, that of an Indian girl raised in the United Kingdom," Prem pointed out.
The film, shot in the UK, is being produced under the banner of Paanch Rupaiya Bara Anna production company. Apart from Maghera and Prem, the film also features international dancer Spider Salah.
Meanwhile, a few famous Bollywood celebrities are backing the film, which includes superstar Shah Rukh Khan and Farah. SRK, who is currently busy with his upcoming film "Happy New Year", stated that he would promote the film as and when he gets time off from his busy schedule.
"This is the first time I'm supporting the film in this manner. I'll be a part of the promotions whenever I can," SRK told The Times of India.
Farah, who is also supporting the film, will be seen attending the trailer launch of the film on 16 July. Apparently, the "Happy New Year" director wanted to be the creative producer of the dance drama but due to her busy schedule it didn't work out, TOI reported.
The dance drama is all set to hit the screens worldwide on 22 August.
