After stealing numerous hearts with breathtaking evening gowns, cocktail dresses, wedding dresses and handbags, Marchesa is all set to jump into the footwear business.

Marchesa, founded by Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig, will showcase its first shoe line during the New York Fashion Week RTW Spring/Summer 2016 show on 16 September.

"We've always envisioned Marchesa as a lifestyle brand and including a full shoe collection is an important part of that vision," Chapman said, according Buro2/47.  "Customers and retailers alike have requested we expand into footwear so it's incredibly exciting to have found a partner who can help us fulfil that goal."

For this purpose, Marchesa has joined hands with handbag and footwear licensing company AKH Group. Lauding the group Chapman added: "[They have] been wonderful in fulfilling mine and Keren's vision for footwear. They understand the need for impeccable quality and have worked with the best factories in Italy and Spain to ensure the collection is beautifully crafted."

The brand is known for its fun, flirty and feminine dresses and we expect the shoe line to be no less. The collection will reportedly include flats as well as heels and along with some great material, some pieces will even be crystal encrusted.

"The options for silhouettes and materials are truly endless," WWD quoted Chapman as saying, according to Yahoo News. "We hope to expand the variety of styles available each season, creating pieces for the Marchesa women to wear in all aspects of her life."

Meanwhile, Marchesa seems to be on a roll of late. Just a few days ago, the brand launched its first jewellery line that includes statement necklaces and earrings. The accessories will be mostly in pearls and crystals keeping in tune with the feminine characteristics of the brand.

While we cannot wait to see the new footwear line on the runway at the New York Fashion Week that begins on 10 September, the pieces are also sure to make it to the red carpets soon, considering the number of celeb patrons Marchesa has. Hollywood actresses such as Sandra Bullock, Penelope Cruz, Blake Lively, Jennifer Lopez, Kate Hudson, Leighton Meester and Selena Gomez among many others are often seen flaunting the brand's designs at various events.

"Gossip Girl" actress Blake Lively also wore Marchesa when she tied the knot with actor Ryan Reynolds in 2012.
