If latest reports are anything to go by, German car maker Volkswagen will drive in its Beetle to India by the end of this year.
According to Zauba, which tracks India's import and export details, Volkswagen has imported the new Beetle to India, suggesting that the launch of the model is on the cards. The imported Beetle comes powered with a 1.4-litre TSI petrol engine that also does duty in Jetta sedan, based on the information.
Little else is known about the other key details of the model; from the rumours doing the rounds, the new Beetle is likely to churn out a maximum power t of 158bhp and peak torque of 250Nm. When launched, the new updated Volkswagen Beetle will take on the likes of MINI Cooper S, Mercedes A-Class Fiat Abarth Punto, and BMW 1-Series and is likely to be priced at around Rs 30 lakh (ex-showroom).
As for design and styling, the new Beetle is likely to get an updated interior and exterior. The Beetle will be brought to India as completely Built Unit (CBU).
