It looks like the wait for the new iteration of "Bug car" Volkswagen Beetle is going to be over soon, as emerging reports indicate the car will hit the Indian shores on 19 December.
The third generation of Volkswagen's iconic Beetle has been caught on camera while undergoing testing in India quite a few times. Bookings for the Beetle are underway in the country, and now a report AutoCar India says the launch of the car will take place on 19 December.
Beetle will be brought to India as CBU and is expected to be priced around the Rs 30-lakh mark. Under the hood, Volkswagen Beetle will get an in-line four-cylinder 1395cc TSI petrol engine developing 148bhp and 250Nm of torque, mated to seven-speed DSG transmissions. The car comes with a 0-100 kmph time of 8.7 seconds and top speed of 203 kmph.
To be sold only in one variant, the new avatar of Beetle will be offered in four colours in India: Habanero Orange, Oryx White, Tornado Red and Blue Silk. The Beetle, which is slightly angular in its latest avatar, will get a dual-zone air-conditioning system, multi-function display, an audio system with eight speakers, panaromic sunroof, auto-dimming rearview mirrors and cruise control inside the cabin.
