'Odiyan', touted to be the most anticipated Malayalam movie of the year which stars Mohanlal in the lead role will have its theatrical release on December 14. Just days before the release of the movie, the makers have now released a video song that begins with the lyrics 'Maanam Thudukkanu'.
The song has gone viral on the internet and already racked up more than 7,00,000 views on YouTube.
The newly released video song is a melodious number composed by M Jayachandran. The lyric is penned by Rafeeq Ahamed, while Shreya Ghoshal has rendered her voice for the track.
The song, which features Mohanlal and Manju Warrier caring a partially blind girl, is shot in beautiful locales of Palakkad. It should be noted that some of the events depicted in the song also gives a glimpse of Odiyan's storyline.
In one scene, the blind girl (Sana Althaf) can be seen looking at the sunset, but all she sees is only darkness. However, when Mohanlal and Manju Warrier starts narrating the sunset, the visual becomes pretty clear for the blind girl. This single scene clearly indicates that this partially blind girl has a huge prominence in the life of both Mohanlal and Manju Warrier.
Many people speculate that the tragedy faced by this blind girl will form the major crux of the movie. In 'Odiyan', Mohanlal will be seen playing the role of a hired goon mentioned in Palakkad folklore who has shape-shifting abilities. People in the Malabar region of Kerala believe that Odiyan could assume the shape of animals, and inhabited the area before the era of electricity.
'Odiyan' is directed by acclaimed ad filmmaker VA Shrikumar Menon. Apart from Mohanlal and Manju Warrier, the film also stars Prakash Raj, Siddique, Innocent, Nandu and Narain other prominent roles. The film is bankrolled by Antony Perumbavoor in the banner of Aashirvad Cinemas.
