Toyota Kirloskar Motor is gearing up to launch the new Fortuner SUV on November 7. Ahead of the launch, the company has teased the SUV on social media platform. While the first teaser showcased silhouette of the SUV, new teaser shows headlamp and fog lamp unit of the upcoming SUV.
The bookings for the SUV are already under way. The new version has already been unveiled in the global markets and the India-spec model has been spotted recently in many Toyota dealerships.
In the latest avatar, Fortuner is more youthful than the outgoing version. The new version features reworked front and rear bumper, which is sportier. The headlamps and tail lamps are slimmer and wider now. New Toyota Fortuner measures 4,795mm in length, 1,855mm in width, 1,835mm in height and 2,750mm in wheelbase.
As far as the features in the new Fortuner are concerned, it will come with 7-inch T-Connect infotainment system, reverse camera, electrically adjustable driver's seat and cruise control and the safety will be taken care of by ABS (anti-lock Braking system) with EBD (electronic brake- force distribution), brake assist, TRC (traction control), HAC (hill-start assist control) and seven airbags.
The SUV will be powered by 2.4-litre GD and 2.8-litre GD diesel engines. While the 2.4-litre 2GD-FTV diesel unit likely to develop 148bhp and 400Nm of torque, the 2.8-litre 1GD-FTV unit will churn out 175bhp and 450Nm of torque. The engine will be mated to a six-speed manual and automatic gearbox.
In addition to the diesel engine, the new Fortuner is also expected in petrol mill as well. The Fortuner petrol will be powered by a 2.7-litre, four-cylinder, dual VVT-i petrol engine that also does duty in the Innova Crysta MPV. The engine is expected to develop 162bhp of power and 245Nm of peak torque.
The Fortuner SUV is likely to be priced over Rs 30 lakh. In India, the new Fortuner will take on the likes of Chevrolet Trailblazer, Mitsubishi Pajero Sport and Ford Endeavour.
