The new iteration of Toyota's popular SUV — the Fortuner — has started reaching the showrooms of the company, suggesting that the launch could happen soon. The new Fortuner is already open for bookings in the country unofficially and dealers are accepting pre-orders for the SUV for a down-payment of Rs 1 lakh.
A set of images of a black new Fortuner, said to have been taken at a showroom in Ahmedabad, have been shared by Team BHP. Built on Toyota's New Global Architecture (TNGA), in its new avatar, the Fortuner gets a redesigned front and rear side along with 18-inch alloy wheels.
In the international markets, the Fortuner comes powered by a 2.4-litre GD and 2.8-litre GD diesel engines. While the 2.4-litre 2GD-FTV diesel unit develops 148bhp and 400Nm of torque, the 2.8-litre 1GD-FTV unit churns out 175bhp and 450Nm of torque. The transmission is handled by a six-speed manual and automatic gearbox.
In terms of dimensions, Fortuner measures 4,795mm in length, 1,855mm in width, 1,835mm in height and has a 2,750mm wheelbase. To be pitted against Chevrolet Trailblazer, Mitsubishi Pajero Sport and Ford Endeavour in India, the new Fortuner is expected to fall in the price range of Rs 25-30 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
Meanwhile, US auto-major Ford has revised the prices of its Endeavour SUV in India ahead of the arrival of its rival in the new form. The Endeavour has received a price cut of up to Rs 2.82 lakh, and now starts at Rs 23.78 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
