Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has announced that the company will launch the much-awaited SUV -- the new Fortuner -- in India on November 7. The bookings for the new Fortuner are open unofficially in India for a down-payment of Rs 1 lakh.
Expected to be priced at over Rs 30 lakh in India, the new iteration of the Fortuner is already on its way to the dealerships across the country. The internet has been abuzz with spy shots of the new Fortuner, which were taken at different dealerships in India.
To be pitted against Chevrolet Trailblazer, Mitsubishi Pajero Sport and Ford Endeavour in India, the new Fortuner is expected to pack a 2.8-litre GD diesel and a 2.7-litre petrol engines under the hood. While the diesel variant will generate a power of 175bhp, the petrol mill will be tuned to pump in 158bhp of power.
In the international markets, the Fortuner comes powered by a 2.4-litre GD and 2.8-litre GD diesel engines. While the 2.4-litre 2GD-FTV diesel unit develops 148bhp and 400Nm of torque, the 2.8-litre 1GD-FTV unit churns out 175bhp and 450Nm of torque. The new avatar of SUV will come in four-wheel drive (4WD) and two-wheel drive (2WD) options and the transmission will be handled by six-speed manual and automatic gearbox.
The new Fortuner will feature bi-xenon LED projector headlamps with daytime running lights (DRLs) and revised front and rear bumpers. In terms of dimensions, it measures 4,795mm in length, 1,855mm in width, 1,835mm in height and has a 2,750mm wheelbase.
As for features, expect the new Fortuner to feature Downhill Assist Control (DAC) system, 7-inch T-Connect infotainment system, reverse camera, electrically adjustable driver's seat and cruise control among many others.
