The new Toyota Fortuner was launched in India on November 7 and the SUV is getting overwhelming response from the auto lovers in the country. The new Fortuner has already garnered over 5,400 bookings in the country within two weeks of its entry into the market and has received 16,000 enquiries.
The company has already started the delivers of the new Fortuner and the current waiting period of the model stands at two months. Toyota says that the company is currently focusing on the fastest delivery of the Fortuner in the country and there is great demand for the automatic transmission variant of the model.
"We are overwhelmed with the response that the new Fortuner has garnered in just two weeks' time since its launch. We have noticed a significant customer preference towards the automatic transmission and trying our best to deliver the product to the customer at the earliest so that they don't have to wait too long," said N Raja, Director & Sr. Vice President, Sales & Marketing, Toyota Kirloskar Motor.
The Japanese auto giant, Toyota launched the new Fortuner in six variants-- 4x2 Petrol Manual, 4x2 Petrol Auto, 4x2 Diesel Manual, 4x2 Diesel Auto, 4x4 Diesel Manual and 4x4 Diesel Auto. Priced starting at Rs 25.92 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), the new Fortuner comes with a 2.7-litre petrol engine or a 2.8-litre diesel motor under the hood. While the diesel variant is tuned to generate a power of 175bhp and 420Nm of torque, the petrol mill pumps in 164bhp of power along with 245Nm of torque. The transmission in petrol is handled by a five-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed automatic; whereas six-speed manual and automatic gearbox does the duty in diesel models.
The Fortuner is pitted against new Ford Endeavour and Chevrolet Trailblazer.
