Toyota India is all set to introduce its new version of Corolla Altis in the domestic market on Tuesday (27 May).
The car, which is already on sales in international markets, will hit Indian shores in new style. Auto enthusiasts in the country have been waiting patiently to get their hands on the wheels of the new facelifted Corolla Altis since the car made its first appearance at the Delhi Auto Expo 2014.
The car will make a debut in the country on Tuesday and will reach the dealerships in early June. Even though the prices of the soon--to-be-launched Corolla Altis are yet to be made public, dealerships across the country commenced the bookings for the car earlier last month with an advance payment of ₹50,000.
The all-new eleventh generation Corolla Altis will reach the domestic market in both petrol and diesel engine options. Powered by the 1.8 liter petrol engine, the new Altis petrol model is expected to deliver a power of 140 PS at 6400 rpm and torque at 190 Nm at 4000 rpm, while the 1.4-litre four-cylinder D-4D diesel engine is likely to produce 88.4 PS at 3,800 rpm.
Measuring 4,620 mm in length, 1,776 mm in width and 1,475 mm in height, the new vehicle has a wheelbase of 2,700 mm. The new offering of Toyota is expected to accommodate premium features like push button start, rain-sensing wipers, keyless entry, LED Daytime running lights, Rear view camera, 7 inch touch screen infotainment system and 8 way adjustable seats for driver.
On the safety front, the car is likely to pack dual SRS airbags, ABS with EBD and brake assist and clutch start system. The new Altis will be offered in seven colour variants and nine trims in the country. When launched, the car will be pitted against Skoda Octavia, Renault Fluence and Volkswagen Jetta in India. With the launch of new Corolla Altis, Toyota hopes to expand its foothold in the domestic market.
Earlier in May, Toyota Etios Cross started its journey in India with a price tag starting at ₹5.76 lakh. The new Etios Cross, an overhauled version of Toyota Etios Liva is offered in three engine options - with two petrol engines and one diesel engine. While petrol Etios Cross is powered by a 1.2 litre DOHC engine and 1.5 litre DOHC engine, which can generate maximum power of 6KW (90 PS) @ 5600 rpm and 59KW (80 PS) @ 5600 rpm respectively, the diesel model of the new crossover draws power from 1.4-liter diesel motor. It is offered in 8 color options - Inferno Orange, Ultramarine Blue, Classic Grey, Harmony Beige, Celestial Black, Vermilion Red, Symphony Silver and plain White in the domestic market and comes in 4 trims.
