The reports on the new Safari Storme with higher output from the same 2.2-litre Varicor engine made headlines last week, and the launch is believed to be coming soon. Ahead of the launch, the prices of the new Safari Storme have been leaked.
As expected, the 400Nm Safari Storme is available only in the VX trim and priced at Rs 13.52 lakh for the 4x2 variant and Rs 14.91 lakh for the 4x4 variant (ex-showroom, Mumbai). Ahead of the launch, dealers have started taking bookings for the vehicle against Rs 50,000, reports Carwale.
The technical details leaked earlier said the powerful version of the SUV would be powered by the same Varicor 2.2-litre four-cylinder diesel engine seen in the current model. The engine has apparently been re-tuned to churn out 154 bhp at 4,000 rpm and 400 Nm of torque at 1,750-2,500 rpm, mated to six-speed manual transmission. This engine version will be available only in the top-end VX variants of the model. The upcoming Safari Storme can accelerate from stationary to 100 kmph in 12.8 seconds.
The updated Storme comes with an additional 6bhp and 80Nm of torque over the regular model. This increase in torque is expected to further increase the offroad ability of the SUV. The new VX Safari Storme 4x2 costs Rs 15,000 over the current model, while the 4x4 costs Rs 17,000 more.
There will be no change in terms of style and design, and the Safari Storme will feature reverse parking display, six-speaker audio, LCD screen, controls on the steering wheel and a remote control for rear passengers.
