The Super Bowl trailer of Disney's upcoming live-action adaptation of "The Jungle Book" is beautiful, mesmerising and strongly reminiscent of the 1989-90 animated series of same name.
However, it was not before 1990s that the animated series was broadcast in India. Hence, every Indian who was a back of the 1990s has special memories attached to the adventures of Mowgli.
Though the upcoming movie is live-action instead of animated one, Disney has undoubtedly made sure all the nostalgic elements remain intact and the audience can travel down the memory lane while watching the movie.
Based on Rudyard Kipling's 1894 book of same name, "The Jungle Book" follows the story of Mowgli (Neel Sethi), who is raised in the jungle by Indian wolves Raksha (Lupita Nyong' o) and Akela (Giancario Esposito).
When the fearsome Bengal tiger Shere Khan (Idris Elba) threatens his life, Mowgli sets out on a journey of self-discovery and is guided by other friendly animals, like Bagheera the Black Panther (Ben Kingsley), Baloo the Bear (Bill Murray), and Kaa the Python (Scarlett Johansson).
The trailer showcases some of the familiar elements from the story as Mowgli can be seen being trained by Bagheera and having fun with Baloo in the water. Even the medieval forest ruins from original stories and animated series are adapted into the movie.
Besides the theme, the trailer also showcases brilliant direction by John Favreau, best known for directing "Iron Man" and "Iron Man 2." Favreau has indeed made sure the overall feel of Disney remains intact even if the characters and background are real life.
The trailer looks promising and fans are eagerly waiting for the movie so they can find it out how close the movie is to their childhood's animated version.
"The Jungle Book" is scheduled to be released in theatres on April 15, 2016 in Disney Digital 3D, Real 3D, and IMAX 3D.
