New Samsung Teaser Video Shows Metal-Clad Smartphone; Set to Debut on 9 December

World smartphone leader Samsung has released a teaser video of a new metal-clad phone, leading many to believe the Galaxy S5 will make its early debut this month.

Taiwanese arm of Samsung has posted an intriguing 22-second promotional video of an unnamed smartphone with tag-line 'Just for you'. In the teaser, we see short phrases, such as 'just fit', 'just simple', 'just elegant' and 'just fast', appearing over the length of the video, describing the metal-clad phone.

During the early part of the video, a Galaxy Gear smartwatch is shown displaying the timeline "13:00, Mon Dec 9" hinting the launch date of the device.

The new clip has set off a wildfire, spreading rumours that Samsung might launch the next generation Galaxy S5 on 9 December. Meanwhile, technology website Engadget has rubbished speculation that the new phone in the video is a variant of Galaxy J, which recently got launched in Japan.

In the video, the smartphone is shown to boast a metallic shell, while Galaxy J does not boast any metal-based cover as such. Hence we believe it's too early to assume the phone is either Galaxy J or Galaxy S5. We just have to wait a few more hours to know the truth.

Galaxy J (SC-02f) made its debut in Japan in late October and was rumoured to make its way to Taiwan this month.
