Motorola confirmed on Tuesday ,10 March, that the 3G-based second generation Moto E sale will go live on 12 March via Flipkart and now it has come to light its 4G variant will also be made available in India in a couple of months time.
Motorola India General Manager Amit Boni has reportedly confirmed that the company plans to release the 4G-LTE enabled Moto E (2 Gen) in India by May this year in sub-₹10,000 price range.
"We are going to sell more 4G phones in the country than all other 4G devices combined in the sub-Rs 10,000 smartphone category when we launch our 4G-enabled Moto E in the country," The Economic Times quoted Boni as saying.
The delay in releasing 4G-LTE Moto E (2 Gen) has to do with non-compatibility of phone's radio-modem with India's network bandwidth. The 4G model which is currently selling in North America is only compatible with the telecommunication network bands in the US.
The company is expected to commence the testing on Moto E soon to re-calibrate modem chip to make it compatible with India's network bandwidth. After thorough testing, they have to get a nod from the Central Government owned telecommunication agency and only then the Motorola device will hit stores in the subcontinent.
