A new Call+ mobile app for Android and iOS smartphones allows users to make free calls to landlines and mobile phones. There are several apps out there doing the same, but this is slightly different.
The app's most intriguing feature is that it does not require the other person to have the app installed before calling and also it flashes your number as caller ID.
Call+ benefits those most that make international calls on a regular basis. The app offers unlimited free calls to anyone in the continental U.S. and landlines in Mexico, China and Brazil (Brazilia, Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and Belo Horizonte).
CNET reviewed the app's performance and found it extremely useful. There were a few missing features like messaging but otherwise, the calls were just fine.
And here is the catch: if you want to call other countries you have to buy various packages on offer. These packs are extremely cheap but there are ways to bypass them and still use the service. Call+ unlimited calling service one day pack costs 99 cents, two days for $1.99 and a month of free service for $19.99. You can find the app's use across 85 countries around the world including India, Bangladesh, UK, Canada and more.
There are a few ways you can skip the purchase and earn days of service. For instance, signing up for dating service Zoosk will give seven days of free service;customized holiday ornament from personal Creations gets you seven days. Signing up for T-Mobile's Mobile Phone Service earns three days and there is lots more.
Call+ is available as a free download for iOS and Android devices from iTunes and Google Play Store, respectively.
