Marvel Cinematic Universe's superhero ensemble The Defenders are finally coming together to save the New York City. But will their eternal battle with the Hand (ninja death cult) ever end because his one and only love Elektra is returning in the series?
All the episodes of Marvel's The Defenders will premiere globally on Netflix on August 18, 2017, at 12.01 am PT. All four Defenders have debuted in their own individual Netflix series, with Daredevil, Jessica Jones and Luke Cage largely receiving rave reviews but Iron Fist becoming the first Defender to receive mostly negative reviews from the critics.
The series follows a quartet of singular heroes with one common goal – to save New York City. This is the story of four solitary figures — Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Daredevil, and Iron Fist, burdened with their own personal challenges, who realise they might be stronger as a team.
The trailer is full of flashbacks from the previous Marvel Netflix series, including the close-up of Iron Fist punching Luke. Oh, wait! there is a brand new epic hallway fight between all the four superheroes and Elektra. Without many surprises, Elektra has been resurrected by the Hand in the upcoming series. And here is the twist as Elektra will be seen wearing Jessica's scarf as a makeshift mask to kick the a** of Matt Murdock.
Netflix's The Defenders will see a crossover between popular Marvel superheroes —Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist. The series will feature Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock/Daredevil, Krysten Ritter as Jessica Jones, Mike Colter as Luke Cage and Finn Jones as Danny Rand/Iron Fist.
Aside that, Elden Henson will reprise her role as Foggy Nelson along with Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page, Eka Darville as Malcolm, Carrie-Anne Moss as Jeri Hogarth, Scott Glenn as Stick, Jessica Henwick as Colleen Wing, Elodie Yung as Elektra, Rachael Taylor as Trish Walker, Simone Missick as Misty Knight, and Rosario Dawson as Claire Temple.
Meanwhile, Sigourney Weaver will be seen in the villainous character of the series as Alexandra. Apart from that, Jon Bernthal's The Punisher is expected to return for the series; although it is not confirmed yet.
Marco Ramirez and Doug Petrie along with Marvel TV's Jeph Loeb are the executive producers of Marvel's The Defenders. The series is produced by Marvel Television in association with ABC Studios for Netflix.
