As Maruti Suzuki continues to test the new version of its popular sedan, the Swift Dzire, on Indian roads, more images of the model have emerged online, indicating that work on the upcoming model is progressing rapidly.
The new Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire is expected to hit the Indian market by May 2017. The car, which went on test a couple of months back, has been making appearances on the web time after time. The launch of the new Swift Dzire is likely to be followed by the new Swift in India.
The new Dzire will boast changes both inside and outside. While the sedan will retain the silhouette of the current model, it is expected to get new front fascia with new headlamps and reworked grille. It is also likely to get new taillamps. Some of the changes in the new Swift Dzire are likely to be in line with the next-gen Swift.
As far as the features are concerned, reports suggest that the new Swift Dzire would house automatic climate control, keyless entry with push-button start, reverse camera and steering-mounted controls.
The power in the new Dzire is likely to come from the tried and tested 1.2-litre petrol and 1.3-litre diesel engines of the current model. However, the company is said to be considering a 1.0-litre BoosterJet engine along with SHVS (Smart Hybrid Vehicle by Suzuki) technology for the new Dzire.
For the year 2017, Maruti Suzuki seems to have aggressive plans for the Indian market. The carmaker is expected to bring many models, including hatchbacks and SUVs. The company is expected to start the new year with the launch of its much-awaited compact crossover, the Ignis, which will be followed by the powerful version of the Baleno — the Baleno RS.
