Mahindra Scorpio Getaway pickup is not a bread winner for the company in India and has been sold as recreation SUV in the country. However, in countries like Australia the pick up model has demand.

When Mahindra updated the Scorpio in 2014, the Getaway model was left untouched, but the new spy pictures from Pune show the pick-up truck in a new avatar in line with the new Scorpio.

The new Getaway features the name Pik-Up at the tailgate, which makes it clear that the vehicle is destined for the Australian market. The new Getaway for India is expected to be unveiled at the Auto Expo 2016. The pictures taken by MotorBeam show the SUV with new grille, headlamp and reworked front bumper, but indicate that the side profile and rear remain untouched. However, the test vehicle featured side step with external metal mouldings. The tail lamp is the same old unit from the first generation Scorpio launched in 2002 and that makes the rear look dated.

The interior has been spruced up with new dashboard, instrument cluster, four-spoke steering wheel and new switchgear. The seat fabrics are also expected to be premium. The Austrailan-spec model will be powered by the same 2.2-litre mHawk diesel unit that develops 118bhp and 280Nm of torque mated to five-speed manual transmission. The India spec will be powered by the 2.6-litre DI diesel unit that develops 114bhp and 280Nm of torque mated to five-speed manual gearbox.
