Korean car maker Hyundai is inching closer to the global debut of the new Verna at Chengdu Motor Show starting on September 2nd. Ahead of the unveiling, the poster image of the new Verna leaked and it shows the face of the car.
The picture posted by autohome.com.cn indicates there are only minor changes in the production- spec compared to the concept Hyundai showcased at the Beijing International Automobile Exhibition in April. New Verna features a design that's sleeker in contrast to the current Fluidic design language of Hyundai.
The pronouncing bumper, flashy headlamps and bigger wheels of the concept has been toned down in the launch-ready model. At the front, a large hexagonal grille in chrome finish takes the centre stage in line with the new Elantra launched in India last month. It is flanked by a pair of swept back headlamps. The projector headlamps are longer than those in the current Verna. The side profile remains more or less the same, but the concept does show newly-designed alloy wheels.
Though pictures are not available at present, the rear section of the new Verna is expected to get new LED tail lamps inspired from the Elite i20. The registration plate will be repositioned to lower rear bumper.
There is currently no word from the car maker on the powertrains and the interior specifications. The India-spec model is expected in 2017 and it may continue with the same set of engines here.
