Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) is gearing up for the launch of the new Elantra sedan on Aug. 23. Ahead of the launch, the specifications and feature details of the vehicle have been leaked online.
As per the leaked information by Automotive India, the India-spec Elantra will be sold in 2.0-litre Dual VTVT petrol and 1.6 CRDi diesel engines. The petrol engine will develop 151bhp and 190Nm of torque, while the diesel unit will belt out 127bhp and 265Nm of torque. Both the engines will be coupled with the choice of manual and automatic transmission options. The report also reveals that the new Elantra will boast of fuel efficiency of 22.4 kmpl for diesel MT and 14.6 kmpl for petrol MT.
Both petrol and diesel powered new Elantra will be sold in S, SX, SX AT, SX (O) and SX (O) AT variants. The sedan will come with 170mm ground clearance, 458-litres of fuel tank capacity and 5.3 metres of turning radius.
Depending on the variant, the new Elantra will flaunt features such as cruise control, steering mounted control, anti-pinch electric sunroof, eight-inch touch screen with Apple Car Play, 16-inch alloy wheels, rear armrest and smart boot opening.
On the design, new Elantra comes with prominent hexagonal grille up front in chrome. It is flanked by a pair of swept-back headlamps. The headlamps are also equipped with dynamic bending lights. The front bumper has been tweaked and it now sports vertically aligned DRLs. The sedan features prominent character lines and new alloy wheel design on the sides, while the rear-end gets wide LED taillights.
