South Korean auto-major Hyundai has been testing its new Elantra on Indian roads for quite some time now. The model was caught on camera countless times already and to add to the list of the spy shots, here is a 1-minute-long video of the 2016 Elantra.
Caught on camera by Team BHP, the key details of the test mule were seen covered with thick camouflage. However, the roof of the car was not covered, thus showing the blue body shade of the model. There is nothing much other than that one can pull from the video, but it looks like the model is ready to be out on the roads formally. The new Elantra is expected to be launched in the country in September.
Unveiled in Korea in September 2015, the new Elantra will be offered in both the petrol and diesel engine options. The Elantra is likely to get three engines — a 1.6-litre VGT CRDi diesel motor, a 1.6-litre GDi petrol engine and a 2.0-litre MPi petrol engine. In international markets, the petrol engines come paired with six-speed manual and automatic transmissions, while the diesel one gets a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox.
As for features, expect the sedan to pack features like a three-spoke steering wheel and a touchscreen infotainment system with satellite navigation. From a visual stand-point, the new Elantra is expected to get prominent hexagonal grille flanked by a pair of swept-back headlamps, prominent character lines and wide LED taillights in the rear.
To be pitted against Toyota Corolla Altis, Volkswagen Jetta, Skoda Octavia and Chevrolet Cruze in India, the new Elantra sedan is likely to get a price tag in the range Rs. 13 lakh to Rs. 17 lakh.
