India's premium hatchback segment is heating up with the launch of new Honda Jazz, which is scheduled to be launched on 8 July. The segment, which is already filled with contenders like Hyundai Elite i20, Volkswagen Polo and Punto Evo, is set to roll out the carpet for the new Jazz.

The new avatar of Jazz has managed to impress the auto lovers in India so far. As we know, the new 2015 Honda Jazz is coming to the Indian market, where its predecessor failed to make a mark, with high expectations. As the auto enthusiasts of the country wait to hold the steering wheel of new Honda Jazz, we bring you the detailed specifications comparison of new Jazz and Hyundai Elite i20 (with respect to the details released).

Engine Specification

In its previous avatar, Jazz lacked a diesel engine and now, new Honda Jazz will be available in India in both petrol and diesel engine options. The new Jazz will get 1.2-litre i-VTEC petrol engine that powers Amaze and Brio, and can generate power of 90bhp with a torque of 110Nm at 4,800rpm and 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel motor that can pump 100PS of power and 200Nm torque. As for transmission, the petrol variant of Jazz will get either 5-speed manual or a CVT with paddle shifters.

Hyundai Elite i20 also comes with two engine options, 1.2 kappa petrol and 1.4 litre CRDi diesel engine. The petrol model of Elite i20 is powered by 1.2 litre petrol engine, which can churn out 83 PS of power and peak torque of 114 Nm, mated to five speed manual transmission. The diesel model gets power from 1.4 litre CRDi diesel engine, which is tuned to pump out 90 PS of power and peak torque of 220 Nm and the motor comes coupled to a 6 speed transmission.

There is no automatic engine on offer in Hyundai Elite i20, at least for now.

Dimensions

While the new Honda Jazz measures 3,955mm in length, 1,694mm in width and 1,544mm in height, Hyundai Elite i20 is 3,985mm long, 1,734mm wide and its height is 1,505mm. The major difference comes in the form of boot space; the new Jazz gets a boot space of 354 litres, while Elite i20 has 285 litres of the same.

Fuel Efficiency

While the petrol Elite i20 gives a mileage of 18.24 kmpl, the new Honda Jazz is tuned to give a mileage of 19.0kmpl. The diesel variant of Elite i20 claims to deliver 21.76 kmpl, whereas the diesel Jazz promises a mileage of 27.3kmpl.
