It looks like Honda India has got it all right with its new avatar of Jazz hatchback. The new Jazz which was launched in India earlier in July has clocked a sale figure of 9,000 within one month of its entry to the market.
The hatchback, which made its India debut on 8 July, is also the first model in Jazz line-up to come equipped with diesel engine. In July, with 6,676 units of sales, the new Jazz became the single largest contributor to the total sales of the company.
Jnaneswar Sen, senior vice president, marketing and sales, Honda Cars India said, "We are extremely happy with the response received for the All New Jazz. The Jazz has been able to expand the premium hatchback segment and its volumes will significantly contribute to the growth we are expecting this year."
Under the hood, the new Honda Jazz hatchback packs1.2-litre i-VTEC petrol engine that powers Amaze and Brio. It can generate power of 90bhp with a torque of 110Nm at 4,800rpm and 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel motor can pump 100PS of power and 200Nm torque.
The transmission is taken care of by either a 5-speed manual or a CVT with paddle shifters in petrol variants and 6-speed manual transmission in diesel Jazz. The petrol Jazz promises to deliver a mileage of 19kmpl and the diesel variant is rated to return a mileage of 27.3kmpl.
