Decks have been cleared for Honda's highly anticipated Jazz premium hatchback. Honda will break the cover of all new Jazz in India on 8 July.
Jazz premium hatchback had failed to capture the attention of Indian auto lovers in its previous avatar and now, when it is getting ready for its second innings, the crucial decision to be made by the company is to position the model in the market carefully.
The previous iteration of Jazz failed to click with the public due to its high pricing and now when Honda is gearing up for the launch of the new Jazz in the market, the competition is not going be easy unless Honda makes each step count, from pricing to positioning.
From the word around the internet, it seems like the new Honda Jazz will be priced at ₹5.5 lakh and the cost is unlikely to go beyond ₹7.1 lakh (ex-showroom). As we already know that in its new iteration, Honda Jazz will come with 90% localisation and this will help the company to price the model competitively.
Previous leaks and rumours suggested that Honda's new Jazz will be offered in five variants (E, S, SV, V and VX) like City in India. Under the hood, New Jazz will get 1.2-litre i-VTEC petrol engine that powers Amaze and Brio and can generate power of 90bhp with a torque of 110Nm at 4,800rpm and 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel motor that can pump 100PS of power and 200Nm torque.
The petrol variant of Jazz will either get 5-speed manual or a CVT with paddle shifters and is tuned to give a mileage of 19.0kmpl and the diesel model will come mated to 6-speed manual transmission with a mileage promise of 27.3kmpl.
The features expected include 15.7cm touchscreen AVN system, adjustable rear headrests, auto AC with touch controls, paddle shifts (CVT only) , hands-free telephone control on steering wheel, beige fabric upholstery ,electric folding OVRMs, multi-view rear parking camera, ABS with EBD and Driver and passenger airbags.
