Japanese carmaker Honda has updated the Civic sedan that sits between Fit/Jazz and Accord globally. The tenth generation of Honda executive sedan made global debut in 2016 and hence the latest model is just a nip and tuck to keep the product fresh till the arrival of the next generation.
2019 Honda Civic gets piano black front fascia 'wing' in place as standard. The pre-facelift version showcased at Auto Expo 2018 in February was fitted with chrome wing grille section. In addition, Honda has tweaked front bumper and lower grille to make it look more angular.
A full-width front splitter, updated halogen and LED headlights, and a chrome strip for the rear bumper are the other new additions. 2019 Honda Civic also gets newly designed alloy wheels. Honda has also brought in jazzed up Sport trim for the Civic that comes with 18-inch wheels, a splitter-style rear bumper, rear spoiler and additional black detailing for the fascia.
Inside the cabin, 2019 Honda Civic gets a seven-inch infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and a volume button. The international spec model boasts several safety features such as collision mitigation braking, forward collision warning, road departure mitigation, lane departure warning, lane keeping assist, and adaptive cruise control.
New Honda Civic India launch
Honda Cars India has confirmed that it will launch three products in the current financial year- new Amaze, new CR-V and Civic. The company launched 2018 Amaze in May and CR-V is next in the line with launch scheduled in October. New Honda Civic India launch is expected to happen in the first quarter of 2019.
The India-spec Honda Civic will be powered by a 1.8-litre, 140hp petrol engine. The sedan is also expected to be offered with 120hp 1.6-litre Earth Dreams diesel engine that will also power the new CR-V. The diesel engine is expected to get coupled with nine-speed automatic transmission.
Honda Cars India is expected to price the Civic between Rs 16-20 lakh and it will go up against Skoda Octavia, Toyota Corolla Altis and Hyundai Elantra.
