343 Industries is all set to enter the gaming industry with a bang, thanks to its upcoming Halo 5: Guardians. In case you weren't aware, this is the newest entry in the already decorated Halo franchise and will look to further Master Chief's story.
Earlier, during the Halo 5 beta testing, there were few available weapons and abilities; they are now being tweaked to balance them ahead of the game's final release.
"This has been improved since beta. All weapons have gone through substantial tuning as a result of feedback and data," 343 Studio Head Josh Holmes said.
Speaking via a community thread at Team Beyond, Helms revealed a bit about the upcoming divisive smart-scope ability for the game. "Smart-Link transitions (in/out of zoom) have been sped up substantially since beta," he said.
"Sniper Rifle was a big offender in beta and has had perhaps the most change, but all weapons are much faster to zoom in and out and it makes a big difference in the flow of combat."
Helms explained that the ability is in third person mode since it "gives players an opportunity to see their Spartan perform the move".
They had previously tried first person for it and that didn't work out quite as expected.
"We've experimented with first person charge, but it's impossible to get it to read clearly without extending the range beyond what makes sense for balance," Helms said.
Lastly, it seems like the ground-pound ability has also been re-mapped to a new button, although we don't know which one. On the risk/reward power, Holmes said, "This will still be a risky move that should be used situationally, but executing the move feels much more fluid and intuitive."
Stay tuned for more updates!
