Duster SUV from Renault India is not just a usual model. It was the Duster that helped this French company set its foot in India after it was launched in 2012. The company has given a mild facelift to the compact SUV in India. However, in the international space, the vehicle has been continuing without major changes for close to six years. The latest reports indicate next generation of the Duster is being readied and the launch can be expected in 2017.
Romanian publication ZF Auto says Laurens van den Acker, chief designer at the Renault group, confirmed that a completely reworked Duster will enter the international market in 2017.
The purported new model has been spied last September. The spy pictures show a heavily camouflaged Duster that is slightly longer than the current model. The images hint at about 15cm increase in length. The quarter glass after the B-pillar is extended towards the rear and it indicates the third row of the seats. Hence, the next generation Duster is expected in seven-seater layout.
Additionally, the front end has a large skid plate and sculpted bonnet. The new-gen Duster will feature ORVM with integrated turn indicators and newly designed alloy wheels. The new generation Duster is expected to get a new-generation of petrol and diesel engines. The current 1.5-litre K9K engine developing 84bhp and 108bhp will be tweaked for higher performance and fuel efficiency.
As India is a hot market for Renault, the new generation Duster will soon find its way to the country after the global launch.
