South Korean car-maker Hyundai has released a few images of its new generation i30 hatchback ahead of the public debut at the Paris Motor Show next month.
The third generation of the model has received a major aesthetic upgrade. The face of the hatchback sports Hyundai's new Cascading Grille, which will appear in many other future vehicles. The hexagonal grille features chrome outline. It is flanked by swept back LED headlights. Shoulder line that start from the head lamps reaches till the tail lamps and it adds muscle to the side profile of the hatchback. The pair of wrap around LED tail lamps is thin compared with the outgoing model. The black rear spoiler enhances aerodynamics and makes the new generation i30 look even more dynamic.
On the inside, i30's interior comes with lesser number of switchgear and a floating 5-inch touchscreen at the centre console with an option of 8-inch unit. The new generation i30 also boasts of features such as Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and wireless charging. On the safety front, the hatchback flaunts Autonomous Emergency Braking, Smart Cruise Control, Lane Keeping Assist System, Driver Attention Alert and Blind Spot Detection.
The i30 is the first Hyundai vehicle to get new turbocharged 1.4-litre four-cylinder petrol motor that develops 138hp. There's also a naturally aspirated 1.4-litre unit with 98hp output and a turbocharged 1.0-litre three-cylinder making 118hp. The 1.6-litre diesel mill is available in three states of tune- 94hp, 109 hp and 134hp. Engines are coupled with a six-speed manual or a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.
The new generation i30 is more than just one model. The company will introduce a family of cars under i30 brand. The family will feature the first high performance model under Hyundai Motor's N brand going into production in 2017.
Hyundai India is not selling the i30 in India at present. However the company had showcased the current gen model at the Auto Expo 2016. Arrival of the latest generation of the i30 to India cannot be written off.
