Toyota's Indonesian website released the first official image of the upcoming new-generation Toyota Innova. The head-on image of the car is in line with the leaked brochure images on Autonetzmag.com, and comes with a host of changes.
The front fascia gets a big hexagonal grille with two thick chrome slats on the top that blend into the headlamps. The dual projector headlamps also integrate with LED daytime-running lamps. The restyled front bumper gets fog lamps with chrome housing.
The previous leaked images indicated that the dashboard's design was inspired by the new Fortuner. The dashboard gets a dual-tone theme with the upper part in black and lower in beige.
The Innova, known as Kijang Innova in Indonesia, will be available with the new top-of-the-line Q variant followed by V and G trims. Toyota has given importance to safety features in the new Innova, which comes with ABS, EBD and three airbags as standard across the trim levels.
The new Innova in Indonesia will be sold with both petrol and diesel engines, with a choice of five-speed manual and six-speed automatic gearbox. The GD 2.4-litre diesel engine replaces the old KD 2.5-litre engine. The new engine develops 147bhp and 359Nm of torque, mated to the manual gearbox. The diesel engine, also available with automatic transmission, will have a slightly lesser torque of 342.2Nm while power remains the same. The in-line four-cylinder 2000cc petrol engine will develop 137bhp and 183Nm of torque, available in manual and automatic transmissions.
The global launch of the new Innova is touted to be on 23 November. The India Innova is also expected with the same specifications and variants. That launch can be expected by the end of 2015 or in early 2016.
